Creating the Next Strategic Plan

NC State Community:

The 2019-2020 academic year marks the end of The Pathway to the Future: NC State’s 2011-2020 Strategic Plan. As a community, we collaborated to create this plan that has guided our decisions, investments and progress over the last several years. As a result, working together we have created a stronger university by increasing student support and significantly raising degree completion rates; recruiting and retaining top faculty; investing in world-class research and scholarship; engineering inspired spaces around campus; enhancing our strategic partnerships at home and abroad; and much more.

Our upward trajectory and continual successes positively impact students, faculty, staff and the entire NC State community, as well as our state, nation and world each day. Thank you all for your continued commitment to achieving the aggressive goals set in The Pathway to the Future and for your unending dedication to making NC State extraordinary.

In that spirit, it is time for us to begin seriously thinking about the university’s next strategic plan — one that builds on NC State’s previous accomplishments and propels this university to achieve its remarkable potential. This process will be led out of the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, starting with a leadership retreat on September 3 with participants representing all of NC State. Listed below are the groups involved in this retreat.

  • Chancellor’s Cabinet
  • Deans
  • Associate Vice Chancellors
  • Senior Vice Provosts
  • Vice Provosts
  • Chair of the Faculty
  • Staff Senate Chair
  • Student Body President
  • Student Senate President
  • Graduate Student Association President

We encourage you to send ideas to the leaders representing you and your area at this retreat. We hope to have a wide variety of diverse thought and input to consider in order to best inform the university’s next strategic plan.

Similar to the process in 2010-2011, there will be opportunities for additional feedback as we begin to formulate the plan. These will include student senate meetings, staff senate meetings, faculty senate meetings, department head meetings, Board of Visitors, Board of Trustees and more.

We look forward to your feedback and participation, and to working alongside you to ensure an even brighter future for NC State.
